About

Learn a little more about how I brought this blog to fruition after finding inspiration in the process of landscaping our home.

Hi there and thank you for visiting! I imagine you have discovered my website today to find some inspiration as you plan your way through landscaping your own outdoor space.

You have come to the right place as I was in your shoes once too. My experience started when we moved into our new home at the end of 2018. Our property had absolutely no landscaping, so I really had a blank canvas to work with. It was difficult at first not knowing where or how to begin, but through this process as a beginner gardener I was able to learn a lot through my own trial and error.

As I learned more, I realized how much I enjoyed garden design and loved putting that knowledge into practice while planning my garden and browsing nurseries for plants to incorporate into my home landscape.

This hobby has grown into a passion that continues to shape who I am today. I’m continually building my knowledge in horticulture and garden design so I can better support you on your own garden journey. I’ve earned a horticulture certification through the University of Minnesota alongside the Master Gardener program, and I plan to continue expanding my education to help guide you in creating a landscape that will work for your home.

One of my favorite gardens is my butterfly and bee garden that was created after being gifted a peony from my mother in-law.

This garden taught me that it is ok to break away from the typical foundation plantings around your home.

Lesson here is to break yourself away from the typical garden layout surrounding your home and create a dedicated garden space or focal point that will bring character and a deliberate, cohesive feel to your outdoor space.

All of my garden projects have included a furry sidekick named Archie. He is great company in the garden and an even better reminder to stop and play when I need a break.

I will also mention that because I have such a handy helper in the garden, I do try to stay conscious of the plants I put into our backyard.

Not all of my plants are non-toxic, but I do focus my designs on pet-friendly plants for the most part. If you have pets of your own, please be mindful of what you put into your gardens and whether they are the type that like to consume anything they encounter.

Additionally, I will be sharing my experiences with growing in raised vegetable beds.

We built these beds in the summer of 2023 and it has been so much fun discovering how well vegetables can grow in this location of our home.

These beds do not receive that much sun throughout the day, but have still produced enough for me and my husband, with overabundance at times that allow me to share with the neighbors. I’ll definitely grow less cucumbers next year. 😉
